Arrowtown Eco Centre Launch
7pm Tuesday 8 November, Athenaeum Hall Supper Room
You are invited to the presentation of concept designs and models of the proposed Environment Centre for Arrowtown.
The models are being present to generate discussion and interest in the Eco Centre concept – to build a group of supporters to take the concept to the next stage.
The Arrowtown Business Association (APBA) has been working with several community groups to create an Eco Centre on land near Bush Creek.
The centre for locals and visitors will tell the story of the unique ecology of Arrowtown’s landscape, and the work of the land owner and the QEII trust to heal the Mahu Whenua land – 53,000 ha of covenanted high country land covering Motatapu, Mount Soho, Glencoe and coronet Peak stations between Lake Wanaka and Arrowtown.
Students from the Auckland University School of Architecture will present their models designed to represent a building that focuses on the ecological attributes of Arrowtown and its high country and the ever increasing attraction of tourists. The concept plans will take in the common ground between the landscape, surrounding buildings and traditional built form in Arrowtown.
The presentation will be in PechaKucha format.
