Queenstown Lakes District Mayor Jim Boult, QLDC Councillors and staff are inviting local residents to join them in discussing future plans for safe drinking water in our community, including making chlorination permanent. There will be a public meeting in the Supper Room of the Athenaeum hall at 5 pm on Monday 5 March 2018.
QLDC representatives will discuss the findings and recommendations from Government’s inquiry into the contamination of drinking water supply, and subsequent outbreak of campylobacteriosis, at Havelock North in August 2016. In particular, discussions will focus on how the recommendations have raised expectations regarding risks of contamination throughout the entire reticulation network from source to tap.
This is a great opportunity to find out QLDC’s long-term thinking on the Arrowtown water supply. Hope to see you there!
