Council alerts

Queenstown Lakes District Council has a number of ways of alerting you to icy or snowy roads and other unforeseen events such as road closures and extended water shut-downs.

In winter QLDC issues regular road reports via email and text alerts, and on Facebook and Twitter. It's easy to sign up online for email and text road reports.

Winter in the Wakatipu can provide challenging driving conditions, especially in Arrowtown where temperatures are more extreme than elsewhere and where side roads are not high on the gritting priority list. QLDC has some good advice  to keep you safe when there’s snow and ice on the roads.
