Arrowtown School is a state-funded, co-educational school. It is a full primary school with Year 1 to 8 students aged from 5 to 13. The school accepts only children living within a zone that includes Arrowtown, Millbrook and Gibbston.
The school was founded in 1863 and has been on its present site since 1997, with new buildings added as the roll has grown (it is currently 580 and projected to reach 700). It is modern and well resourced and has a large, attractive school hall and excellent recreation facilities.
The school fosters a positive attitude towards learning, encouraging pride in performance. There is a wide range of sporting, performing arts and cultural opportunities, including a kapa haka group. The school actively supports students to engage with the natural environment and outdoor activities.
