Churches

Arrowtown has three churches: Presbyterian, Anglican and Catholic. All three buildings are historic and the churches are very popular for baptisms, weddings and funerals. The Queenstown Islamic Centre is in Gorge Road, Queenstown, but apart from that non-Christian religions seem not to be well served in Whakatipu.

St John's Presbyterian Church

St John's, based in a stone church on the corner of Durham and Berkshire Streets, is part of the Wakatipu Community Presbyterian Church. Sunday worship is at 10am. The church welcomes families and encourages all ages to participate with several programmes for children. Phone 03 441 4250 (9am to 2pm Tuesday to Friday) or send an email.

St Paul's Anglican Church

St Paul's is part of the Anglican Parish of Wakatipu. The picturesque wooden church at 15 Berkshire Street has Sunday services at 9am. There is an active church community, including the Small Seeds programme of music and fun for toddlers and their caregivers. Phone 03 442 8391 or email.

St Patrick's Catholic Church

The Catholic congregation in Arrowtown gathers at St Patrick's in Hertford Street, which is served by a priest based at St Joseph's, Queenstown. Mass is celebrated every Sunday at 11am (liturgy of the word with holy communion on the second and fourth Sundays of the month). There is a scripture group on Mondays. You can get in touch via email.
