The Central Lakes Trust Insulation Grant Programme, administered by the Cosy Homes Trust, is now subsidising the installation of effective insulation in a wider range of homes than ever before. Under the scheme they will pay 70% of the cost of ceiling and underfloor insulation up to a maximum of $2800 per home.
Eligibility requires a home to be owner-occupied (no rentals or holiday homes), built before 2008, and located in NZ Index of Deprivation decile 5, 6, or 7 area in 2013 or 2018. So if you live in the part of Arrowtown indicated by darkest orange/red in the map you may be eligible for a grant if you also meet the other criteria.

If you have a Community Services Card, there is an even more generous insulation subsidy programme (Warmer Kiwi Homes) that funds 100% of the cost. You may also be eligible for 100% of the cost of replacing your older model fire up to $3300. You can find more information on all the subsidies on the Cosy Homes Trust website.
These subsidies are part of central and regional governments' programme to make sure we all live in warm, dry and healthy homes, and are an important contribution to reducing winter air pollution in Arrowtown. If you haven't already upgraded your heating and insulation, now's the perfect time!
