A pathway to regenerative tourism

Last week Destination Queenstown, Lake Wānaka Tourism and QLDC launched a district-wide project to co-design a pathway to regenerative tourism by 2030.

This is a new era of thinking to evolve our local tourism eco-system so it’s important we take a collaborative Queenstown Lakes approach to guiding decision-making and planning for our destination.  It will also create opportunities for the visitor industry to help make our home a better place over time.

There are no pre-determined outcomes – this is about co-designing our tourism future together and everyone’s input is important. Regardless of whether you’re a small or big business, a student, a migrant worker, or have lived in the district for a long time, your thoughts and ideas matter.

If you're keen to help create a pathway to regenerative tourism for our district, come along to a community event on 6 July 5-7pm at Millbrook Conference Centre.

There will be further opportunities to provide feedback as the project progresses. These include another round of community events in August, a community-wide survey in September, and time to provide feedback on the draft plan in November.

More detail about the project is available at www.regenerativetourism.co.nz.
